new rings or oilpump

I have a bike with a 1993 evo motor . If its not started for a week it pours oil out of the engine breather. Also it blows a bit of smoke now and then.I realize it might be wet sumping but could it be just that the bore is so worn that the cases are being presurized and pumping the oil out or could it be mainly the oil pump.

It could be the check ball seat in the pump and wear in the scavenger part of the pump or just a dirty ball. Start one thing at a time, clean the ball and seat, go for a ride and then check compression, are your plugs oily?to fix the seat of the check ball remove the pump and regrind the seat using an old push rod and some fine grinding paste, grind until you get a full dull grey ring, clean clean clean, while the pump is out check the housing for any scoring round the gear housing.

After you check the compression squirt a bit of oil into the chamber and recheck compression, if it jumps right up the rings/bore are worn.

Gee evo I thought we might have been going for a ride on Saturday, hope it's nothing major, hate to see the legionary rocket off the road. If you need some moral support, give me a yell, I've got a few nights off early this week.
