Anybody had any experience with the UVE cleanable / reuseable stainless steel oil filters available for Harleys.

Supposed to be superior to normal paper filters and also assist in keeping the oil cooler.

I remember RT (roadtrain) yapping/using them himself.  On a thread somewhere,maybe workshop? Have a scout about on the threads,I can't remember which one mate. Or send him a P.M.

I have the KP engineering filter on mine. Yeah they are ok. Just as messy when changing oil but are easy to wash. And you can see what is removed. Walka sells something similar as well. Daughters partner bought one and had it delivered to my place. it is about the same size as the stock filter where as the KP is slightly smaller than stock.

I have just installed one on my 09 FXST, too early to form an opinion just yet.

I researched this item via USA Forums for a good cross section of opinions, most were very supportive, i especially took note of the HD users that had one or similar item installed for long term. I also read with interest that a few people used this item with racing/competitive type engines.

I will be submitting an oil sample for analyst (that word) after my first oil change with this stainless mesh type filter, this should be sufficient for final decision to retain or remove and revert back to the original HD filter. I am confident that this item will prevail.
