Variations in Tuning styles

I am not sure if this has been done before, but I have been reading up on TTS in other forums etc.  In the past I have followed the TTS guide with the program,  however I have come across some different variations to the tuning process itself.

The following are somewhat different to what the guide says

    1. Set AC and DE to 0 across the board,

    2. Set PE to 13.5 in all colums,

    3. Set Adaptive Knock Control to off in tuning constants.

    4. Set Spark Advance to 0.

Do your normal tuning and then return all to original settings.   These guides are older than the curreent guide put out by TTS but are still followed in the US.

I can understand the concept of AC/DE settings but not sure about why setting the PE to 13.5 and not disabling it.

Also setting the knock retard would surely bring pinging to the front when you are doing your runs and affecting the end Vtune process. I am work atm so don't have access to the guides but can post them up when I get home tonight.  They are no where near as detailed as the TTS guide but are written in a somewhat easier to understand format.

Maybe I am grasping at straws here, but as I am new to all of this and have a very basic understanding I want to further my education with the TTS.

OK getting my Balistic vest on

Heard of the first 3 settings, but not 4, setting spark advance to 0.

I have used number 1 and was happy with the out come.
