Gents,
I've very recently been granted my PR here in Oz and am now (hopefully) days away from buying a sweet Super Glide.
Does any know or can advise if there are any restrictions when converting a UK motorbike license (Full) to a NSW
license. I only passed my full bike license 10 months ago but have held a full car license 22 years.
Cheers
K
Ha ha,
That was kinda my concern. Spending 20k on my HD and then being told I can't ride it for another year
or something equally disastrous !
Hopefully mate.
I did my bike license in the UK under the Direct Access Scheme which is a 5 day full time course ( I think you have
something similar here in Oz). Riders with a full car license and over 25 years old could could jump straight onto
whatever bike they wanted without 'P's or restrictions so I'm hoping this will be the case in NSW.
I think a quick call to the RTA should hopefully clarify this
i had problems 10 yrs ago when i went to change my Irish licence because the asian girl for vic roads did not understand me,lucky there was an Irish girl also working for vic roads and she took over and had no problems.
Converted mine to NSW licence in 2005 without a problem. Just keep mentioning its for car and bike because some of the RTA people can be a little hard of thinking
In Qld you can drive for three months on a foreign licence before you have to change it. Check to see if it the same for NSW and then you'll have passed the 12 month issue anyway.
There was no issue converting mine in Brisbane, but ten again I'd had it for so long it was written in latin!

Update fellas,
Got my licence sorted.................eventually. F*ck do they like to give you the run around in the meantime !
Was told I have to ride on 'P's until 21st October (when I have held my UK licence for 12 months)
She handed me a set of 'P's to which I said 'Don't bother, they're going straight in the bin'.
I really think with the RTA it's all about who you get on the day
Super Glide + 'P's =
