There were some issues with rear Cam Bearings and Chain Tensioners, possibly an Oil pump problem.
All easily upgraded, but would cost a few $$ if done by a shop.
How many km's ?

It's possibly a 99, but manufactured in 98. Which would make it the very first of the Twin Cam.
I would seriously factor in around $800-1200 to do the upgrade.
You really cant tell much from noise, as the bearings can let go in an instant, and do nasty damage.

A Friend of mine just found an 09 FLHRK for $20.000..  That is 10 years newer, with the new frame that handles better, AND the new ABS brakes.  The combination of these might save your life in a pinch, plus the later model engine.   I would do some more looking and make some offers...

Gabby, note that the economy is $hit, prices are soft, and hardly anybody is getting what they are asking.  The amount of HDs on BikeSales.com went up about a 100 every month for the last few months... From 1400, to 1500, to 1600, and at last look last week there were something like 1790 Harleys for sale Australia wide.. It is a BUYERS market for sure...   That 09 Road King might have been a fluke, but I would do some looking and negotiating as a couple of thousand gets you twice the bike if you can find a similar deal..  Good Luck and I hope this has been a help..
