Loose Fuel Lines Warning

Guys, just a word of warning as the days get progressively warmer and we take our machines further afield.

The other day after filling up on the way home, I started to notice, the fuel gauge dropping as it was late I quickly scanned the bike and would look into it the next morning. Went into the garage and a distinct smell of petol. After having a major service he had not tightened up the clamps on the crossover hose correctly and they had worked loose. I usaually do my own wrenching but due to pressures of work  and the lack of time not this time. My dear old Dad's words came back haunting in my ears "Nobody looks after or cares about your machine the way you do! Check Check Check."

After talking to the other half, deciding how lucky I had been ,I heard the news one of the blokes who I work with had his fuel lines come off his Harley he was'nt so lucky he and his bike caught fire, the saving grace was a dude watering his lawn who put them both out. He is in the burns unit with second degree burns.

Just for me ,will you, spend a couple of minutes and check your fuel lines so it doesn't happen to one you my collegues.

    Hoggie.

I have the HD braided crossover and it's crap. Already had to replace the rubbers. Not designed for the type of pipe. Think I will make a customer braided line following this news.

    Sir Garfield,
Sire, thanks for the Knightly advice! That I like, I'm thinking that will do me certainly make emptying the tank easier as shown in the excellent how to.
