    Hi,

New here. Looking for a bit of advice really.

Been given the option to ride over to the Island for the MotoGP this year. A friend of a friend has a house 5 mins from the circuit which is handy...

Now then, I've driven over before in a campervan in 2003 so no accomodation issues but from PI to perth, was doing the East coast  - Indycars, Bathurst and the MotoGP :)

This will be the first time riding over, ill be on my 07 Nightrain, is there anyone out there that has done the same? Can you give me any advice on booking accomodation in advance along the Nullabor or did ya just rock up? How many ks is realisitic and how long did you allow for the trip?

Was thinking of fitting a small screen to the Train and use some panniers and a rack for gear - good? Open face helmet with a face protector or go full face helmet?

Bikes just been serviced but will check it over beforehand obviously.

Also going to join a recovery service incase things turn shithouse.

    Good ideas?

Input from those in the know would be great.

    TIA

Rode to Perth and back (from melb) in 8 days (4 days each way, stayed overnight) on a GSX750 10 yrs ago.
Didn't book accom, stayed in onsite vans etc. Took a small tent, never used it.
Did Melb - Pt Pirie day 1, Nullabor roadhouse day 2, Norseman Day 3, Perth Day 4, and same on the way home.
I would say definitely full face, no riding after dusk, and what surprised me was the nuimber of police on the road from Ceduna to the WA border - definitely no speeding!

Got home, thought "that was a bloody long way!" but would love to do it again now!

Had no bike issues at all, but tyres were square by the time I got home!
    Have a great ride!
