     G´day mates,

I´m Robert from Germany and I´m riding a 82 Late Shovel, Apehanger style since 23 years. And guess what, I wanna ride it through Australia.

Together with my wife (73 Triumph Bonneville) we want to travel in your great country for 12 weeks. We arrive at Perth on the 8th of November.

I would have a question related my direction flashers. Actually I have installed some from an old Fiat at the ends of the handlebars (very tiny and small and in Germany not allowed as legal flashers because the direction of the light is not forward or backwards but all around). So now I´m asking myself if I could get trouble during the import with your regulations.

    Any idea?

    Best regards

Would be great to meet some of you over there.

    Robert

    Hey Robert.

Welcome, and Im sure someone here (perhaps one of the bike importers?) could point you in the right direction of who to contact about making sure you bikes are up to spec for AUS regulations.

Where do you plan to ride to after you get to Perth?

Gidday Robert, you will also need flashers on the back of the bike, dont know if you have them or not, keep us informed of your travels.

I know a german guy who has a custom motorcycle shop in australia, he should be able to help you and help with the language barrier, his name is Mike and his local phone number is 0754499555.

    G'day Mate

Have a look here http://www.aaa.asn.au/touring/bringing.htm , I don't think it is too much trouble to bring your bikes into Australia and then take them back to Germany, different to importing them. If you get to Tassie, contact me, we have a german au-pair arriving on friday.

Hi Robert, 12 Wochen durch Australien? Sauber! That's quite some serious long distance traveling you are facing there! Sag Bescheid wenn du in Melbourne / St Kilda vorbei kommst. Cheers, Peter

    Hi mates,
thank you very much for the impressive welcome.
@Tassie Dave, Tasmania will be one of our highlights for sure. I will post it and we can meet us there.
@motor head: Thanks for the link
@Peter: Melbourne wird wohl unser Abfahrtshafen für Tasmanien sein. Wäre klasse Dich zu treffen.
Yesterday my engine was finished on the workbench so today there should be the "marriage" place him back in the bike together with the gearbox and all the rest. The bike is an Apehanger style kind of old school classic with a custom rear fender and a 180 rear wheel. But with expedition assecoires.
See you on the road (and stop then).
