No I havn't got tourets. But it might be comin on!!

Been havin trouble with bike electrics. When I got off the bike after my last ride I could hear a clicking sound, something like a relay resetting?? I pulled the Neg off the battery and left it as it was. Now every time I go to put the neg wire back on the battery I get welding sparks.

I have just pulled the tanks off to check wether or not I had a wire chaffed through and rubbin on metal. Nup cant find any.

I have dissconnected the Badlands unit (operates LED indicators and running lights) Still getting fireworks off neg terminal.

I accidentally ran a wire from the neg terminal to an earthed wire in behind the battery and it is sparking like the 4th of July.

Any clues??? Anyone???? The sun will be out tomorrow and I am hangin to go for a ride.

That will be my first check in the morning mate. The probs I had last time where the small wires in the cap of the Starter solenoid breaking, this meant the bike lost all power, had them fixed at Lundstroms in gatha. Just had the bike serviced but on the way to drop bike off for service it was losing power on and off (lots of fun in peakhour traffic, kept having to shut the ignition off and restart)

Just wondering if problem could be in the ignition switch as it is very ratchetty and a couple of times I havn't had dash lights come on?

Off to the Bikers Ball tonight with the South Gippsland Ulyssees. Some drinking, dancing and then somehow gettin home. Always a good night out. Thanx for the reply Clarkie.

Sounds like a positive wire somewhere is making your bike "Alive"

check all your live (power) wires as it sounds like one is rubbed though and earthing somewhere.

Burnzi try pulling individual fuses and relays out 1 at a time to see if you get the same problem. If you find a fix at one of the fuses then you can narrow it down to that circuit. It could also be just a relay that has gone as well. If they go they can remain in the closed position and cause that sort of issue as well.

Sounds like a dead short somewhere Burnzi,

" but on the way to drop bike off for service it was losing power on and off (lots of fun in peakhour traffic, kept having to shut the ignition off and restart) "

Could be your biggest clue to the problem if turning the ignition switch off and on got you going again?

    Burnzi,

The starter could be good place to start. Most of everything else would probably have a fuse that would blow pretty quickly. Do you have a multi-meter you could use to try and track it down?

these dont run fuses only circuit breakers, they get hot and open contact bike loses power then cool off and connect again, its not a dead short or the bike wouldnt be ridable at all, solenoid and starter are separate on these and its not uncommon for the solenoids to play up

Hey Dicko I put the multimeter on some bits of wire and looked at what the mm said..... as that made no sense I started hammering bits of wire with it...........that didnt make any difference other than the screen goin blank. I threw the MM at the wall........I felt like I had achieved something at last. I replaced the solenoid (sits on top of the primary, unlike the new jobbies that are hidden away) but still gettin welding type flashes when I connect the battery. Then I disconnected the tailight/indicator/brake light connector, oh I also disconnected the rear brake wires from the sender. Now nothing works on the bike, but I did get some fireworks when I turned the ignition.

I will attempt to break that tomorrow.
