A week after I purchased my 2010 Fatboy Lo I noticed a knocking sound from the left side of the engine, wasn't really happy about it at the time. Spoke to the manager to vent my frustration and let him know that I wasn't happy and I wished that I hadn't purchased that bike. He wasn't very happy to hear my thoughts on the bike at that time. He was very helpfull and went out of his way to helpe out and called the mechanics to book me into have the problem looked into asap. Also had problem with chrome flaking off on certain parts of the bike and the aircleaner had paint missing from the under side of the cover.

Took the bike in they checked it out and said that I wont be taking it home as they found the compensator nut had come loose, so they loaned me a new bike to ride home and use till they fixed the problem.  The next day I received a call saying that the bike was fixed, so I rode back to the shop and picked it up. Knocking sound had gone, they replaced the side stand as the chrome was flaking off also replaced the aircleaner. Also had them replace the rear guard as it has a dent in the side if you looked down the side of the guard.

Well to have this happen on a brand new bike I was very angry as Harley's are expensive and way overpriced for what your getting.

Bike has run well since then which is a good thing, but I don't take it to the dealer and I haven't done so since that happened, wasnt the dealers fault just a bad quality product.

The day after I got my new rocker home, I noticed scratches in the fork tubes around the seal area, replaced under warranty (the first set the dealer got in were also scratched!) The centre panel on the tank blistering, the seat got a lump in it,both warranty. The bit that makes me too "scared" to trust my bike with them: Shuddering from the front under braking, was told that a new front brake lever and m/c cap will fix it (warranty). Etc Etc etc. Turned out to be a warped front disc ! My point being that how could someone say and do such a thing. I remember him saying "this is a later model lever and cover,it'll fix ya prob....... blah blah blah". I still go to the dealer to have a squizz at the new bikes, maybe new coffee mug, but that's it. It's a fucking shame. It's all about flogging shitloads of bikes asap. Get rid of the stock. Get em out the door.

    Well my 2c.
Havent been back to the dealer I bought my Dyna from since just after the first service.
    Running costs so far:
First service was around $400.00 at the dealer.
Oil change in all 3 holes, cost around $130.00 with Bakes's help a few months ago.
New rear tyre last month, $310.00 fit free (took the wheel down to the kawasaki shop in Mandurah).
I changed the engine oil last saturday, cost inc filter, $71.00.
I imagine the costs of the previous two oil changes wouldve cost me $300.-$400 each, they quoted me
$50.00 more for the rear tyre, plus there is the hassle of taking it up to the dealer from home.
And the couple of aftermarket bits were fit by myself with the help of gmeikle.
So for me, its a cost issue and a loss of faith in the large dealer/s

    Buyer Beware!

I took my bike in to the dealer for it's first service. I also asked them to fit some aftermarket indicators, tail light and side mount speedo. The service was fine but they screwed up with the rest.
They didn't listen to my instructions and fitted the indicators wrong. They left the wiring in a mess. It will take me a few hours to re-route, cut and solder the wiring and re-do the indicators.
They removed the rear fender support bracket and didn't fit it back in. All it needs is 3 hole drilled for the tail light.

The quality of work is astounding.

This shows the great care they take with customers bikes.

I don't know why they scratched the side cover. They didn't even say anything about it.

Also, the alarm indicator light no longer flashes.

I'm flummoxed (i love using that word) as to why they would do this. I bought the bike from them. I WAS a returning customer. I WAS buying genuine HD parts. Needless to say, I ain't steppin' foot inside that shop again.
    Warranties be damned!

Fizball, I'd be less than flummoxed.

I'd be going fucking mental if I had found that I had paid good money to have a so called professional carry out work to that standard.

Be forthright with your expectations of having the damage repaired, and an apology sought for thinking they could get away with it. No dealer, anywhere, should present a customer with shit like that and expect to keep their reputation intact.

I'm sick of being told every time you mention to the stealers some problem with the bike being told "THEY ALL DO THAT"

there is a couple of issues here. keep in mind im not defending dealerships. 1. there is a severe shortage of trained motorcycle mechanics, the training system is pathetic, in Qld it is car orientated, apprentices are at the mercy of possibly poorly trained techs and many are apprenticed to shops, not individual mechanics ,so their training is erratic at best. there are no real incentives anymore for a shop to take on an apprentice, financially it can be a huge drag on resources until they are sufficiently trained to be a useful member in a workshop.2. The warranty system in most dealerships has been nailed down so hard nowadays most dealers will try anything to avoid a claim.3. the attitudes in dealerships have changed from customer service to a money grab, mostly due to the big conglomerates taking over successful shops, cutting costs to increase profit etc. personalised service is a thing of the past in these big deaerships now. doesnt make a difference at the end of the day though, the customer loses.

The only reason to goto a Dealer is so when you need a warranty claim the process "should" be easier, well in theory anyway. Give HH Ringwood a try but make sure you ask for Wayne and tell him Andrew from Maztech sent you.

Just got my bike home from getting a basic service at non HD dealer where I bought it on Sunny Coast. Thought I`d check to see if work was performed as per the bill I got. Oil didn`t even register on dipstick!!! rode it 20km home with fuck all oil. Drain bolt not even tight. Checked my K&N filter. Still dirty. $238 for crap service. Rang to have a bitch and fuckwit said I must be mistaken as they are professionals. Professional wankers. Will not be going back as I don`t think I could control myself. Self-servicing is the go when the warranty runs out I think.
