My screamin eagle muffs are starting to rust along the welds, purchased them March 23.. Just been told they have a 3 month warranty.. seriously.. WTF?! 3 months?! Who the hell only offers a 3 month warranty?

So much for buying 'genu-whine parts'.. Not happy.

You should tell them you'd like that in writing if possible. Just gets them to put their neck in the noose and tighten the rope further. Also ask them to put in writing exactly why they are not providing warranty. Take it to ACCC or your lawyer. any lawyer will have a field day with that stuff <img src=" align="absMiddle" src="/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif" />

Speaking from past experience usually they wont put it in writing and often when you mention lawyers, ACCC and possible breaches australian consumer laws they will just drop their bluff and fix it

Yeah like its only a shitty few hundred dollar fine and most people couldnt be stuffed going to court but often in this case youre not up against a cop who has unlimited time and budget to waste youre time. Shoe is on the other foot and businesses realise getting in the poo in court will cost them more time and money than its worth. In fact they will think "Hey its only a shitty $350 set of mufflers" and fix it.

What to do if you think your rights have not been met
Tell the trader you are unhappy and make a complaint
If you think your rights have been breached, you should attempt to resolve your concerns with the trader.

If you are not sure how to approach the trader, follow the steps on our How to complain page. This page can help you write a letter to a trader and give you guidance about who else you can contact for assistance.

Sometimes a trader might tell you that it is not their responsibility to deal with your faulty product and they could try and refer you directly to the manufacturer.

As you have a contract of sale with the trader, the trader has a responsibility to help you. In turn, the trader has a right under the Trade Practices Act to seek compensation from the manufacturer.

    I was also asked..

where is the bike kept, how often is it washed etc.. What have you used to maintain the chrome.. looking for every loophole they can.

Its not a fuckin display piece you bastards, its a MOTOR VEHICLE.. I would have though operation and use in bad weather was EXPECTED.

Could you imagine this kind of behavior with a car company, 'oh sorry your mazda rusted out, did you leave it outside?, no i'm sorry our vehicles are only intended to be used in fine weather'.

HDhave always only had a 90day warranty on individual parts or aftermarket parts. as far as SE products go they also have a discaimer available, in as much as most of the parts are listed as "not for hiway use" or "off road use only",they can throw back at you with the "incorrect usage of the part". i have seen it done a few times.
