I thought I saw a thread on headlight upgrading somewhere here or in another part of the forum but i cannot seem to find it now.
I really need to upgrade my headlight on my 2005 Sportster 1200c. Really the lamp that's in there is just not up to travelling at 100kph on unlight country roads. I bought a new globe 100/50 to replace the 65/50 but when I got it home I realised that it appears that it should not be fitted to a headlamp housing that is made from polycarbonate, which I think mine is. So what are my options? I don't really want to spend $500 on a new complete new headlamp, I like the one that on the bike already. Can I just get a new lamp to fit in the original chrome housing. Or maybe can I somehow vent the lamp to take the 100/50 new globe & will my electrical system handle the 100w globe.
I would appreciate some advice.

Hey Dermie, links above go to all the latest spools on latest headlight options.
If ya don't wanna go the 500 buckeroo way to convert to HD LED, your best bet would be to look at either a Cibie, or Hella H4 lenz/reflector insert that will handle the 100/50 globe ya got.
HID's are good so long as ya got the room to mount the igniter and balast,,, but bare in mind that they also require a good quality reflector to get the best performance out of the HID globe.

P.S. not sure what your wiring is like, but most of the high beam looms that I've seen on bikes are stretching the freindship with 100 watters.
I'd be inclined to use the original wiring to activate a 30 amp reley.
