Slightly, off topic. I almost owned one.....

I was in the process of ordering a Dakota Digital Gear Indicator this week from Rollies (Australian distributor) and was going to have my Harley dealer install it on my new 2011 Sportster which I got a few weeks ago. On the urging of my partner, I called my Harley dealer before making the payment to Rollies - my dealer raised some concerns regarding the gear indicator on my model bike and offered to do some research before agreeing to do the install.

My dealer got back to me the next morning and advised me that Harley had just released a digital gear indicator for my bike and that the install process was more streamlined than the install of the Dakota Digital model. So lucky I didn't go ahead with the order through Rollies (btw, it's a 4-6 week wait for the part from the USA), as my Harley dealer was able to order me a genuine Harley gear indicator, which will probably get installed over the next week or two. It was also more than $100 cheaper than the Dakota Digital model.

Having said that, Brian from Rollies was really helpful, and kind enough to call me personally within 24 hours of submitting a query via their website.

666, there was thread a few weeks back about the various digital speedo set ups for Sportsters. Have a look on Youtube, there's heaps of clips with bikes that have the dakota digital installed, give you a very clear understanding of how it all works and what it looks like!!
