Reckon HD are gonna regret this decision eventually!
There's little, if anything, on a Harley that you can't buy aftermarket and as long as you buy "quality" aftermarket, it is quite often of a higher standard.
Burto.
A real shame as good savings were to be had through M&M - Another thought is that HH won't price match alternative quotes as now they have no real competition for their genuine parts & Acc.
Glad I've bought all my Acc for my bike.
Personally I would not buy a new Harley in Australia with the prices that they ask. Of the three Harley's that I've owned they've all been second hand, and now I'm glad I made that decision. I'll never consider buying a new one again until they are priced within reason compared to the U.S. Same goes for parts. With the huge turn around in AUD/USD currency they have not kept pace and instead tried to implement anti-competitive practices, this really sucks.
I only ever got a price off mark and never purchased, but still received an email. This will no doubt have a big impact on their business and all I can do is wish him well.
I am after some parts for my starter and will be going after market so will contact him once I get a parts catalogue for my Bob.
Got all the respect in the world for Mark and his family, battlers, trying to make a living and help us enjoy realistic pricing for parts etc...
My resolve will be to keep giving them every support and stuff the local dealers...
Bt
Got the email too. Last parts on their way. Front and rear chrome master cylinders.
Called Harley Heaven for a price comparison first as I have seen people spruking Luke as giving comparable prices.
Ordered from M&M as I got out of it $122 better off (including freight)
As I said in a previous post, part prices in Aust will go up as they now have no competition from O/S. The nnouncement of an Australian price reduction a month or so ago was a sweetener before this policy hit so we wouldn't be so pissed off.
Give with one hand and take with the other.
It's called business
Hi Steamer I still have parts on order from Chicago harley but they are doin the same as from August 1 but all back orders will be filled. I spoke to Eric, one of the internet sales guys and he suggested that if I still want genuine Harley parts, set up a US delivery address with an on forwarder such as Myus.com or Bongous.com and you still get the cheap parts. You will need to check their history before setting up the address as there are some blogs I didnt find appealing (but there were good ones as well) when you google these 2 on forwarders. Suppose you have ta make that judgement yourself. Might be worth doin something cheap at first just incase they are not credible. There is a slight fee to join but may be worth consolidating multiple orders to the same delivery address. Cheers
Hi Pizzlin
The import of these 2nd hand bikes will bring down the price of everyone's Harley whether you like it or not. These dealers need to be blackbanned. I have no problem with using aftermarket parts on my Fatty.
greed will eventually bite you in the arse !!!!!!
