Need sound advice on frame plate under gearbox

    Hi there

I recently purchased a secondhand 09 Electra Glide Ultra Classic and today I gave it a real intense going over. Tightening bolts, cleaning and the like.

I noticed when I crawled underneath the bike that the plate that sits across the frame rails and under the transmission (or near it) has been pushed up either by the dealer or the previous owner possibly by not placing a motorcycle lift correctly and forward enough under the frame, but it's hard to tell and I'm just guessing.

Anyway it's fairly close to the bottom casing and I'd like to try and get it further away. Doesn't need to be perfect but I'm not real keen on using whatever to lever on the bottom of the casing to do that.

Anyone had the same problem and how did you get it done. I can probably manufacture something to do the job. Any suggestions please?

    Cheers :)

Factory calls it the "frame bow-tie" named after the shape.

Mine is the same; someone jacked it up in the middle and bent it upwards.

I assume it will pull the frame rails closer and load the swinging arm bearings a bit but not by much. I fitted a centre stand and that flattened it back some.

One way I guess is to bolt something through each hole with a loop on it OR maybe a car exhaust U-bolt round the centre of the bow-tie, run a long bar through the loop and and use the frame rail nearest as a fulcrum to bend it back.....or attach a loop then attach a slide hammer to the loop to bash/pull the metal down....or leave it alone?
