    Hi guys

bike running well ...slowed down for a speed hump , went to take off again , heard a scrape or snap , all drive gone

first things ...engine running well , bike rolling well , gear box is shifting , and the belt is in tact.... and a very small grinding noise but not all that loude , very faint

It has to be between the clutch and the final drive , I've pulled off the primary cover thinking it may be a bad clutch or brocken chain...nope all good there

So ...  Issue 1  ......either the gear selector inside the box is not working and it has gone into a faulse nutreul , but is still smooth to shift

Issue 2 ...... the out put shaft on the countershaft sprocket [smaller belt pinion] has come loose or snapped on the shaft .

I will find out what is wrong ,but if there is any ideas to what this may be or have had heard about this , any help is welcome .

There were a few speed humps on that road [10 in total]  , and a theory I had was the belt may have been too tight and  had put stress on the counter shaft sprocket and the speed humps have finally done the job to crack it .

BTW ...I've got the clutch case loose and ready to pull off , it has a left hand thread ,... what thread has the ' Compensating sprocket ' have ? as the manual doesnt say ?

                                              thank you for your time

timney the compensating sprocket is a right hand thread meaning "lefty loosey". This is on my 09 FLHTCU and believe at least the big twins are all the same.
I had to put a 1m cheater pipe over the ring spanner and put a little heat on the OEM bolt to get it free and make sure you have a torque wrench new bolt when you get ready to put it back on. Try first before heat but for heaven's sake don't snap the head off........Good luck with your problem sorry I can't help with that one.

    thank you V2 evo

got the bolt off easy ,I brought a socket for it tonight and used a breaka bar and a bit of pipe , turned very easy . So I removed the 2 gears and the tensioner .

tonight I loosen all of the bolts off , and removed the startermotor drive too , and left it at that , cant wait till tomorrow to find out when I pull the cover off to find out part 2 to the problem......hope it's an easy fix
