Ive noticed there are a fair number of people who have had rust problems on their chrome, ok low quality chrome is probably the cause in most cases but.....BE AWARE, if your bike is subject to grinding dust or similar metal particals you WILL have rust problems.......just something to be mindful of.

I read somewhere that a lot of the rust on rims is caused by brake dust-sintered METAL pads -in the good old days brakes used asbestos-less rust ,just asbestosis-
I would say chrome quality may be an issue as well.
From another unknown source -alot of cleaning products have ingredients in them that are either salt based or react like salt???

Quality stainless spokes won't rust, if you're looking for a replacement.

As far as replacing sintered metal pads..........Carbon Kevlar (organic) pads are the go. Lyndall Racing Brakes supply some of the best on the market..................Stop your rusting spoke problem and improve braking power by up to 30% at the same time!

I use and swear by Lyndall brake pads.

I live near the beach, so heaps of saltair, and lot of surface rust on chrome.
Used an old school method of cleaning it up.
FULL STRENTH COKE, AND COOKING FOIL.
Works like a dream and it dont scratch your chrome.
