I just bought a new Road KIng and today I received the package from HOG telling me that I have a free membership for 12 months. Problem is  I have no idea how to access this. Can anyone tell me how to set this up for the first time? Any help would be great.

Step Four ... Keep the insurance coverage that they offer during that one year of HOG coverage. Ya never know....It may come in handy.

Step Five ... Check out the HOG chapter local to you and see if it's for you!  Some have great events every month and have active participation from their members.

jock, I'm not a member but know a few down this way. There are some good guys among them and it is a good stepping stone to get you started. Public forums are not a good way to have a conversation on HOG, you'll get an earful like Collingwood supporters do. There is some good advise here just read between the lines. BTW welcome to the forum.

Been there and done that... many, many years ago.. The only advise I can provide is.. each to their own.. as it suits some.. but not others..!?

It all depends on what your looking for..!?

Also... every group is run differently.. it all depends on the Dealership input... and folks running the show..!?

    Regards, Chops

Our local HOG chapter gets together every Wednesday for dinner. Every month they select a different restaurant. I've never been to one except last night because it was convenient for me. Right down the street from where I live.

They have runs all the times and if I like what they are doing, I will join in. If not, I do my own thing. Within the past couple of years I think I have only gone to 3 or 4 rides with the group. That's the beauty of you deciding what you want to do. If and when they mandate or obligate you to participate....that's when it's wrong. As long as I come and go as I want...I'm good with that.

The group here has a lot of season riders which makes it better. I try to stick with that group instead of a bunch of newbies that tend to create the rubber-band ride; thus allowing cagers to get in front, etc.. Nothing wrong with being a new rider but when you begin to compromise others safety...That's when I voice my opinion and let them know what they are doing wrong.

Jock: like all similar club's it depends on who's running the show...ie: ive known hoggies who have been proud of their club until the commitee changes, then they dont wanna have anything to do with it....then there's the ulysses, i know guy's that ride with a nieghbouring chapter cause their local is nothing but a whingeing mob of old fukheads, ya just gotta get around a bit and find where ya fit best.

I ride both ways...   Being a shift worker living away from home most of the time I will ride with anyone if not I ride alone.

When I want to get drunk and covered in goat shit, then I ride with Als1200 and Robo61. And when I dont want to get into 6 gear then I ride will my local chapter.

Every chapter is different like every other club. Some good and some bad. So far I've found Rocky pretty good.

But the best thing about the Rocky chapter is there bar. $3 beers and $5 Black rats!!!

I was in Mildura at the weekend for juniour VMAX who rides speedway and had some time to kill in the morning so went out to the local HD dealer for a look and the local HOGS were having a sausage sizzle there and I gotta say they introduced themselves, were very freindly, invited us to catch up when in Mildura again and so on ...Just seem like good people to me (not sure if anyone of those in on the Forum or not.I didnt see any Forum patches about but these guys sure like there patches ...lol)

Hey Jock - if you wanna ride with a group rather than by yourself then go along for a few club rides and you will quickly work out if you like it or not - have a go
