    G'day guys,

barely signed up & already the first technical one; where is this leading us...?

Investigating why the aftermarket mini speedo on my '91 FXRS CONV doesn't work. Turns out the bottom end of the cable isn't properly connected to the drive as the thread isn't large enough to be screwed in. Some clown just added a bunch of cable tiers & hoped for the best. Checked cables on ebay etc. but there is no mention of different sizes on the bottom, only top (12mm, 16mm). Has the one I have fitted been added together with the new speedo and just hasn't been ordered in the right size? If I order one 'for Harley' will it automatically fit the drive/ screw in? How many different sizes are there for the bottom connection to the drive? Why is the earth not flat?

Dutch....i think that is a question for Harry Potter or Merlin.....got a similiar problem with my softail, bought it already customised with 19inch front wheel, speedo worked, then worked sometimes, then didnt work, first time i had it at a shop i asked for a new cable, he said NO it was the speedo so he replaced it with a nicer and so he reckons better one.....it worked for a short time then died again.....next time different shop, explained the situation, they put a new cable on.....sweet.....for a few weeks....now it either reads right, or goes ballistic, or reads 140 when doing about 80, or spins around the clock, or just doesnt work at all.....hope ya have better luck than me.
