    G'day folks,

Already got plenty of advice from this forum for which I am truly grateful so thought it's about time to make it official.

Made it back to Milwaukee steel after a few years of abstinence in that dept. Proud new owner of a '91 FXRS CONV with a little bit of work left to do. Had dropped it into a small shop southwest of Brisbane which was highly recommended to me for a general fact check. Got quoted fivethousandbeaverskins to hook up the non functioning indicators. Had a good laugh & got myself a $10 multimeter and a Clymer (yep, the transmission drain isn't where it says but the rest looks promising) & fixed the electrics myself in a couple of hours. Somewhat unlikely I'll visit that shop again but am once again out in the cold in case of a real issue after having been done over many a times by the local bike shops in the area (far south Brisbane/ Gold Coast Hinterland). Thankfully nothing serious so far & just in the process of servicing it all; God knows when it's last been done.

No doubt I'll have the odd question or ten the deeper I get into it so I hope I can count on your help as you've provided so often already here.

Thanks again & see you out there.

    my thoughts exactly.

had he quoted a grand I would have been angry.

having quoted five still leaves me guessing for the proper reaction several weeks after the fact...

Fuck the indicators, you can get a whole new S/E 120R engine installed for 8 Grand into a softail so how can they justify that price.

Holy Dutch ovens batman, 5 grand, now ive heard it all, most of us have been screwed by the shops but that one has gotta be the winner.....as far as name and shame goes that shop more than deserves it but i do agree with the admins, that sort of thing can become unfair to a business from a slightly unhappy and fussy whinging prick.....and i'm still looking for a shop i'm happy with, i think ive found one but gotta try him a few more times before i can confirm.

JIM - I think Robbo is a ghost or a figment of our sad imagination, there are no mug shots of him......cept the occasional creepy figure behind the unwary goat.

BTW - Welcome Dutch, be sure to join a few SEQ rides.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys; much appreciated.

It's this forum after all that lets me leave these kinds of shops with a smile, knowing that after the Clymer there is still one (very knowledgable) avenue left.

If we don't look after each other who will? I for one sure ain't made of $5,000 bills...

    cheerio & thanks again
