I bought my 1994 883 sportster and the guy i got it off told me it "pinged" on premium fule,so just to see whst it did i put premium in it today and did a 200 odd km round trip and it ran like a fucking champ.

So tell me what you blokes run and your results

As a rule Premium but when out in the country you can only get standard unleaded and it runs OK on that

Mine seems to run best on 95 octane. I can't tell any difference with 98 octane, but it pings on standard 91 octane. Getting too hard to find 91 octane without that ethanol sh1t in it, which they say is a big no no.

So, 95 it is then. At least the 95 is real fuel, not left over wheat and sugar waste flogged as fuel by one of John Howard's best mates who owns Manildra......hence all the subsidies for ethanol...TC

Nothing but 98 fuel, if im away and cannot get the 98 I will use 95, why would you use anything else.

98 all the way unless i have no other choice.

if i use bp (will not use safeway/caltex) fuel mine runs like a pig. pops and farts really bad on decelleration. shell 98 works best on mine, dunno why, even better than mobil.
