..... new buzz word .. 'Sputhe' thanks, I will follow up on this.. all new to me.. as I want to 'upgrade' my Dyna front end... and the stabilzier is on the list... would be good if there was a 'Combo' deal ... such as Progressive, Ohlins, inclusive of 'kit' type formats for some of our models..

I stuck with the OEM shock hieght .. with the install of Progressive 970 .. and yeah.. hearing more and more about the attributes of a fork brace... it's all doing my head in at the moment.. with quite a few options... Progressive Suspension currently only have the lowering kits cartridges... but there just about to release sets that are for stock ride hieght.. I am not going to midify my ride hieght at this stage.. 5'10'' the Super Glide is spot on for me... and also at 75 kg your advice is invaluable.. 

Also looking at the Traxxion drop in cartridge .. Emulators, Intiminators but still have a lot of reading to do, and listening to advice of HD Forum members both in Aus and US... just gets more confusing .. 

 

I did indeed legthen the throttle cables.. there a HD braided ... can't remember what extra length I got.. but easy enough to route a bit of cable or wire along the path that it takes to measure .... 

As far as mounting the speedo .. I ended up getting a chrome mounting bracket.. From HD http://accessories.harley-davidson.com/product/sportster/gauges/chrome-speedometer/tachometer-bracket-kit although the one shown here is for Tacho and Speedo .. I got the single one.. as I don't have the Tacho equipped on my ride... 

... and I needed then a bracket to mount the bracket .. lol, which I've made ... by cutting a piece of cardboard then bending it to get a profile.. from there I got some 2 mm stainless (would you belive from Bunnings) it was a stainless plate with a sign on it that said 'Grey water in Use' LMAO .. it was the perfect size.. and still on the shelf there... I'm still laughing.. I polished it up.. after bending and drilling it to my needs...

The picture shows how it is mounted .. I've since cut out a little more from the 2 mm stainless to allow the headlight to adjust up a bit higher...

Beetlebug, be patient with sputhe, it will happen though. I had my positrac on a 2001 superglide, liked it so much I kept it and put it on my fatbob. rear one can be a bitch to install, but it does fit. Also recommend the superbrace fork brace.

 Had them on for a few days.. I installed them as they were from the box.. there pre-set. I'm still 'playing' with them.. Not yet set the 'sag' on them, as I haven't been able to get a mate over to do the measure, when I add my weight to the bike as yet.. running them firm at the moment.. and very happy with them so far, seems I can 'flick' the bike in the direction I want to go .. more so now... draw back is I might be starting to get over confident.. and need to settle down, until, I ride a bit more... but, did have occassion to get off the tarmac recently along a corrogated dirt road.. heading to a favorite water hole in the mountains... road would have been more suitable for a Paris to Dakar BMW or something... but found the closely corragated bumps were smoothed out.. The adjustments are more then needed to set up your bike ... although I'm still learning about suspension... thought I'd go for something half decent .. from the get go.. 

 

dev1 and markfxd thanks I will perservere with Sputhe, because I think it will be worth it, if I fit that and Ohlins on the rear,and fork brace it should be acceptable in the handling dept. Cheers

I emailed Alan Sputhe last night... (Friday) and received an email back today (Saturday) with details of cost inclusive of shipping... I tried to make an online payment using my Mastercard .. but forgot my password .. lol, so I then found that my local Newsagent was a Western Union payment method... other wise use Australia Post, which of course can't be done on weekends.

Yeah... Western Union suxs big time.... they will charge you an arm and a leg to use there service.. totally ridiculous.. $43 then another 1% for some other crap... but, I've ordered. As I had done a bit of reading on his product both in here and US Forums..

 Sorry.... must have missed your question .. the adjustability is more or less infinite.. with thread type adjustment... rather then 5 position as per stock .. maybe a bit firm for the dyna... but, yet to work my way forward ... as there saying.. just doing back shokies.. without front.. is not going to get full effect.. I ordered and recieved the Sputhe Posi-Track.. Monday morning.. so, won't be until the weekend, until I have a chance to install. There a nicely manufactured quality looking product indeed.. and am still Googling .. looking for fitting 'hints', before I 'tool around'. Next will be the Superbrace, then front fork suspension.. still haven't made decision there.. any suggestions.. ?

So Yeah.. While, I feel the 970's will, once I have front forks sorted out.. along with brace and stabizers on.. with what I'm reading I should end up with a fair sort of 'ride'. 

Brakes will follow.. with the single front disk.. but.. I guess, when I bought in to the HD ride.. I spent what I could to get there.. and will define my ride for me... and that's what it's all about..

finally received Sputhe stabilizers 4 hrs to fit, rear one is a bit tricky .  big improvement in handling, money well spent.  Thanks for those that suggested same   Cheers

Can't go wrong.. and yeah a bit of fun with install, you did well I took all weekend (last weekend) only this weekend was I able to fit the new front isolator, as I found it was 'shagged' last weekend.. still to put some highway klm's with the install.. but with the ride to work, and to the pub this afternoon..
I'm finding 'down shifting' smoother in particular, still to order fork brace, and fork springs of some description... lots of reading on still to do on this forum and others.. What a wealth of information...
Oh.. then brakes.. the list goes on..............

fork brace definitely improved braking as well as stability on rough surfaces.
