I converted my 48 from fronts to mids, easier way is to look out on fleabay for a take off mid kit, seems everyone goes from mids to forwards but not the other way.

I was lucky enough to get a brand new mud set off a new bike for $300 from a local dealer, guy had forwards put on before delivery.

I was looking at the HD website the other day and they now have a "Reduced Reach Conversion kit" for forward controls for sportsters (part # 50700010). Apparently they reckon it moves the forward control back about 2 inches and you still keep the forward control feel. I think the cost was about $170 which would be cheaper than buying mid mounts and a bit more comfortable for long trips.

Thats mad, time to get some forward controls!
