Starter Jackshaft Gear -beveled?

Hi All, The bike is a 2009 U/C.

On replacing the OEM compensator with the SE version last weekend, I noticed that the teeth on the starter gear on the end of the jackshaft are beveled a small amount on the outboard end of the gear. Just wanted to check if this is "as built " as this is the first time I've been into the Primary on this bike. The bevel on each tooth looks regular across all the teeth-- but don't know if they are meant to be there or not.

The Primary is still open as I am waiting for a heavy duty clutch diaphragm spring to arrive. A heads up on this would be much appreciated.

Having been thinking about the above post I realise I didn't explain it very well. The bevel on each tooth is facing outboard and runs about 3-4 mm long horizontally across the tooth, then tapers back into the normal tooth profile. If this is not OEM, I think there may be insufficient engagement of the gear into the ring gear behind the clutch pack, causing undue wear on the jackshaft gear. If it is OEM, then it's there to EASE the engagement of the starter gear into the the ring gear.
Just trying to determine if it's meant to be that way -- any ideas?
