fixing brake switch

hope someone will send me instructions for replacing brake switch

i have a 2003 wideglide and brake lights stay on - i checked foot brake switch and it was good

I checked the switch on hand grip and it looks like it might be busted - the bit that depresses looks like it should be longer because it won't depress when it should and causes brake light to stay on - when i press it in with my finger the brake light goes off - i made up a temporary patch that jams in between the hand lever and the switch so that the brake works when it should

Problemo is that i have no idea how to get the friggin switch out out the switch block without destroying the lot - swearing and rum didn't seem to fix it and i don't have a long horned goat

I'd prefer to replace it myself rather than take it to the HD dealer

If anyone can email me with destructions it would be apprecated

You may want to purchase a Harley Davidson Factory Service Manual for you model bike which will give you all the information you require, it will be the best cash you could spend also save you money in the long run.

Ditto to what Motorhead said!!! I changed the bars on the RoadKing and the brakelight was staying on all the time..... no amount of adjustment would correct it, so out came the "chemical metal" and build up the tang on the lever!!! Been fine now for over 6 months!!

Just sorted out a shit of a mess - i realised that the broken switch would work if i put some tape between switch and hand grip - however, that fucked the proper movement of the brake master cylinder mechanism and took me a week to work out why my front brake wasn't working - have now removed the tape and bought an after-market switch and should have done that in the first place - anyway will now get it sorted - they tell me that you must insert a bit of cardboard when fitting the brake handle back on otherwise you breake the new brake switch
