Haven't had to buy a new one,but batteries in both bikes have been flat when I've gone to ride them.

Put them both on a lead acid (Pb) charger at VERY LOW AMPS (So you dont cook the gel) ,and so far seem to be cycling OK.

I think I got to them just in time.

I don't own a battery tender, but I would have thought a charger on a 'trickle charge" would take far longer than 24 hrs.

I wouldn't be using a 'trickle charger" on anything that is 'dead flat'.

Trev, I just replaced my battery, same issue as yours, wouldn't hold charge.

Go and see Guy at Atlas Batteries, he has em to fit most models. He has Deka batteries which is what Harley use for their OEM batteries. They are an AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery and excellent quality as Hilly said.

Failing that Mark at Mount Isa HD has good stocks on the shelf of the HD item, they are pricey but a good item. Don't expect much change out of $170.

Get yourself a battery tender too. I just bought one myself.

Batteries are never the same again once they are fully discharged and they prefer to live at a higher charge state. A tender (trickle charger) will achieve this for you.

I replaced my battery not so long ago as it died. Been in the bike since 07 so that wasn't to bad a run. Went the HD battery through Like and I use a Battery Tender as well. Cold weather stuffs them very quickly. I like the sealed batteries as you don't have to worry about topping up or spillage etc.
