Of interest, has anyone seen a set of the 13 spoke Iron wheels polished? I'm getting a little sick to death of the black bike and want to change it up a little, been giving the 'stop wasting money on that f@#king bike' from the boss so I'm trying to avoid buying a new set (the joys of building a new home).

Alternatively, if anyone is looking to swap a set from a Nighster/883c/1200c (not too sure about the axle width on the latter) I would be interested.

Had enough of the black on black on black, but dont wanna kill the overall look of the bike either!!

hi 883n, I am in the process of polishing the rim of the iron wheels too, would love them machined but have to found the right place. Would like the machined oval bean looking "edge cut" all the way around. Would look like those Roland sand $6k rims.

Clement, where are you based? Found a bloke in Guildford who can polish the wheels up for a very very reasonable prices; I was planning on taking the bike over last weekend but my plans were rained out!! If the weather holds will be off to see him first thing Saturday morning, if it comes in half has good as he quoted over the phone I will let you know!!

I am in the Parra region so not far from Guildford...are you able share what was quoted? Very interested in before and after shots. I was planning to do the rims myself but for a reasonable price better to have a pro do the work... Cheers, clem

Well had the day off work to resolve some issues with my builder and shot over to see the bloke from Guildford, the bad news is he had a look at them and wouldn't advise polishing them. He said that there are a number of areas on the wheels that are rough as guts and would need to be machined in order for them to shine, in short he said it would far too expensive to get them to the point where he could polish them to the finish i needed!!

That's disappointing. Not being aware of exactly what you were thinking, would sand blasting the paint off be an option? Then it would obviously not be polished, but a sort of.. roughened alloy look - could be cool too?

Give the bloke ten points for honesty, the bits he was concerned with were the inside rim of the spokes on the iron rims. He said they could be polished but they've been baked black for a reason, they're as rough as guts and would need to be machined to get the right level of shine needed to match the rest of the rim.

A fine grade sand blast would probably look pretty good!!

Not too sure what the next steps are, back to the drawing board I guess!!
