     Ladies and Gents

Just purchased a 01 electra glide  to compliment my softtail springer (soft yeah I no but more comfy than the springer with apes on long trips) and as it does not come with a radio I intend to install one.  Does anyone have any idea's on what type to install and where you can get one at a good price. Obviously not that keen on the HD price.

    Cheers

Try http://www.biketronics.com/categories/RetroRadio%E2%84%A2-Radio-Install-Kits/ I have installed a Panisonic radio I bought from Auto Barn in my 1996 FLTCH using 1 of their kits, the bike had a sony radio in it when I purchased it. With their kit I now have the handle bar controls working, they were very good to deal with and advised me on the compatability of the Panisonic to their, kit I went with the Panisonic as it had facility for a SD card. I also purchased rear speaker pods and speakers from http://www.dragonflycycleconcepts.com/egup.htm I was happy with their product as well.

    Jeffro,

I have the full setup for a 2001 FLHT Standard - genuine HD radio correct for the year, speakers and hidden aerial. Just fit and play.

(I now have an FLHTCUI with factory-fit radio so I no longer need these).

Radio was off a '99 FLHT (I was told - bought in UK off eBay) - I fitted it to my '05 FLHT Standard and it worked fine once I sorted out a "Bus Error" message due to additional speed input on later models (IIRC won't affect an '01. It is a 10 second fix - remove Pin 9 from main connector and tape it out of the way).

I also have a set of Hog Tunes speakers (MUCH LOUDER than stock) and a Hogtenna powered aerial that fits inside the batwing (much easier than running a cable to the rear of bike especially if you have no Tourpak to mount it on (got one of those too if you want one ) or you use Quick Detach Tourpak).

Radio is Cassette not CD but has Aux input (3.5mm jack) so your Ipod will play via the radio. I ran a $20 MP3 player into it fine because carrying cassettes or CDs is a pain anyway.

The radio is c.$1100 new, the speakers and aerial another $200; how about $600 the lot couriered to your door?
