    Hi,

just after some feedback on suggestions for easy loading/unloading of Softail Deluxe into Holden Ute. I have owned Motorcross bikes and know the deal there, but was thinking the Harley must weigh close to 450kg+ and not sure on tailgates ability to support during the process. Anyone have any thoughts suggestions??.

Load the same as dirt bike basically, if your lucky it will fit diagonally with tailgate shut........more than likely you'll have to leave the tailgate down with the back wheel sitting partly on it.

450kg sounds a little heavy..........new ultra glide weighs 413kg in running order.

If in doubt, get a couple of mates and the 3 of ya jump up and down on the tailgate to test it out!!......unless it's a pile of shit, I can't see it being a prob.

    Burto.

    Robo61,
I know it probably goes against the grain, but was thinking of taking bike away on holidays so once in a town can use bike for me and the missus to tour around on. Not hardcore enough yet for the long boring roads of the Territory.

    Firey,
Will certainly not skimp on the tie downs

    Burto,
your an idea's man lol. had a best guess at the weight, will do a bit more research.

    Thanks all

Don't know about the shitbox Holden tailgates, but the Ford utes handle it easy !
Back into a rise if you can so your not riding uphill, and it's a one man job.

I have a bit of angle on my driveway so I drive the ute out and stop with the rear wheels in the gutter, By time I drop the tailgate I only have to lift the front of the bike a few inches. My neighbours are smart enough to not whinge about the road being blocked while I load the bike.
