G'day all,
I really like the look of the black RSD tracker 2into1 pipes, and was wondering if anyone who has used/is using them could give me an honest appraisal of their performance/sound etc? Is that big baffle insert removable/ repackable/tunable etc? I am more interested in the functionality than I am in the looks, so if the general consensus is that they work well in the performance department, then it will be an added bonus that they actually look good too.Looking forward to any advice. Thanks.
Hope this answers some of your questions, but I don't think they make the RSD Tracker 2 into 1 system for the FXR
Yes I have RSD Tracker 2 into 1 exhaust on my 2010 Fatboy Lo, looks great, sounds nice but some people don't like the sound of the 2 into 1 exhaust, I personally like the sound and the look. Its also awesome when you back off and hear the rumble of the 2 into 1.
Baffle is removeable and held in place with 2 buton head stainless screws, also you can remove and repack the baffle if needed, not really much of a baffle but the exhaust isn't what I would call really loud, with a helmet on it has a nice rumble.
Quality of the ceramic paint coating, to be honest with you well its crap, the first one I had the ceramic paint started to crack and you could see tiny little rust marks forming on the front and rear header just near the exhaust ports, also on the bends near and behind the heat shields.
Vance & Hines did replace the first set of RSD Tracker 2 into 1 exhaust pipes with a replacement, now the ceramic paint is failing on the second set, this time around the paint took a bit longer to fail. Its a shame really as there not a cheap price exhaust system!!!
Later I will take them off and have them re-coated with some other ceramic coating which may be better.
But despite that I still like these pipes and they do have a good power range from idle to mid range where they work best. For flat out speed dual pipes are better. As this is a Cruiser there is no need for me to have top end speed also I don't go that fast as its not a sports bike its just for cruising also I dont trust Harley brakes :-)
I fitted a set (with the SE Tuner) to the handbrakes 2011 883 Superlow, looks good, goes good & sounds great. But have to agree that the ceramic coating is crap.
Thanks for the replies guys, really appreciated.
Rocky, fitment isnt really that much of a problem, because most Dyna pipes will fit straight on an FXR with just a new rear bracket needing to be fabricated and some Softail pipes will fit also depending on the bend and whether you have mid or forward controls. Pipes arent as hard to find for an FXR as some people think, as most TC pipes fit straight on an evo engine. All you have to do is check the bend of the pipe where it comes out of the rear head so it misses the oil tank. And as far as the sound of a 2into1 goes, I already have a 2into1 supertrapp on but its been there for 10years and is looking a bit tired and worn out. I quite like the 2into1 sound, but yes I agree, its not for everyone.
I saw a bike with a set on yesterday and really like them, and even though they are very nice pipes, I did notice one thing which has swayed my decision against buying them. That is that at the height they sit, I wont be able to use my throwover saddlebags that I use when I go camping or on long rides interstate, which I do often. There looks like there is just no chance of getting any bags at all on there with the trackers on. Shame really they are VERY nice.
