Hi all, 

Is anyone here good with wiring and live around the sthside of Brisbane? The wiring is a freakin' mess on this bike I bought and I need someone that knows what they are doing to come and sort it out for me. Any takers

not in your area but how bad is it....whats giving you the shits.

The bloke that owned my bike bike before me has chopped all the wiring to pieces to fit a wideglide tank and dash board to it, and my front indicators don't want to work. They didn't work when I bought it. The neutral, highbeam, oil and indicator lights on the dash don't work either, but I'm not concerned about those. I have got the test light out and tested everything, sometimes the front indicators spring to life, but mostly they are dead. I bit the bullet and bought new switches and wiring to suit so I'll fit those and see how I go. Hopefully it should fix the issue.

Bugger,  do you understand how the wiring works as such.  do a search on this site as you will find some very simple to understand wiring diagrams which might help.  Been down the same track with a jap bike some time ago and i know your frustration.  remember one wire at a time. make sure the joins are done properly, make sure that you have a very good earth (most problems are from that) and dont use quick joining connectors.

 

I am normally pretty good with wiring (car stereos, alarms, etc) but looking at the wiring diagram in my bike manual makes my eyes bleed. I ordered new switchblocks and wiring today so I can route them through my new bars then tackle the bloody indicator issues. I originally bought the bike as a "put it in the garage, strip it and rebuild it" option so I was half expecting some issues, looks like my expectations were well founded

its all good fun. but like i said earlier do a search for wiring diagrams on the forum and you will find some easy diagrams. get it going quick and come on the run to burrum heads (qld ride section)
