Hilly, a m8 uses them, he does a lot of riding has had them in for about two years, he was playing around with Throtle body sizes & cams with a EFI 95" softy, he started out with SE 204, then went to SE211 has a DJ250i to use there was bugger all difference in HP & TQ between the two cams, then he put the 1.7 ratio rockers in saw a good HP & TQ gain with the 211 1.7 ratio. he has since gone to Andrews cams & gear drive still has the 1.7 ratio, will ask him. i got some but would not fit with the andrews 55 cam was a bit close to piston , but could have got them in with the s&s 625's.
Hilly i love them 55's! i've used a few cams in my motor, first was an old Crane 290??? was a bit like ol Bobby Woods Cams very agressive opening and closing short durration think lift was about 590? or close it was chain drive, i loved that Cam it had real agressive grunt with a CV44 carb heads my mate Cow did stock head pipe with Sonic tappered slip on's, & crane Hi-4TC ignition ( still use that ignition 11 years on ) HP was in the 90's?? & Tq was about 100 or close. it was great as i'm deaf, some people thought was a bit rattly but i loved it. 1.6 second 60ft times just idling motor & opening throtle fast, was easy. found the Crane had knocked the crap out of the stock lifters, stuffed case hardening on cam, so got some andrews 55's in chain drive found needed new inner & outter chain tentioners the 55's at same comp as the crane think comp was about 9.7 to 1 or close, the 55 had less punch but still felt ok just not as good down low as the crane. then another cam chain tentioner was needed, then two weeks latter that new tentioner fell apart was very lucky Cow heard this funny noise and got to it before the bits went into the motor, so got a m8 in USA to send out a gear drive Set of 55's, we upped the Comp to 10.5 and she really flew. now heads have a bit more done & 11.0.1 comp love it its like an electric motor instant throtle. just since putting it back on street & putting the restrictive SE CV51 air cleaner on, my times went from 11.2 121mph to 11.7 116mph but the carb is on rich side. gave it to Cow to rebuild the starter motor & check AFR on his DJ250i i was to shoot for 13.1 with aircleaner as i'm back riding it again & love it. i had s&s 625's in made more HP but i was not good enough to use all i had but went 122.5MPH with the 625's in still in 4th gear standing quarter but my times were about 11.40, then put in andrews 55's with Cow telling me i'll be slower, i was slower went from 122.5mph to 118mph but i got time down to 11.3, then changed jetting put in an S&S manifold got my mate Kim Baker to machine up an adaptor from a bit of alloy, made carb stick out, but that added air space got the 55's to hit 120mph and time came down but i was riding like a girl doing 1.8 60ft but the mph tells me she has power for high 10 but won't happen as i'm 63 now LOL
