I have just picked up  a set of S&S 551 easy start cams for my 1550 Fatboy, anybody tried these cams?

I have a pair of 585 s&s easy start cams in 106", the best thing I have ever installed.

Bit slow to post, but a mate was showing me a set with that decompression built into the cam, i think it's only way to go if you got a big inch & you want to really tune it to perform. my little 95" has 230cranking pressure, runs sweet on BP98 But even with SE decompression valves it wears out the starter clutch every few years. ( just done another one ). mate said a big inch he built with one of them  S&S easy start cams, started easier than a stock small inch motor. you think about it...... the pissy little chain saw SE de comp buttons only bleed off a small amout of pressure, almost like trying to fart through a small straw. these easy start cams have a built in that at cranking rev open ehast valve slightly to bleed off a lot more pressure than any de comp valve could. then when motor spins & runs they stop keeping exhast valve open. i think most of the high performance jap bikes use this idea too.

they are a good thing! s&s make some great cams too .

Thanks for the info I will post comments once installed. You are right on the money there Krash these cams should be far better at bleeding off compression than standard compression release and your starter will live to see old age.

HD should make Easy Start Cams for their standard engines, everytime I start my Fatboy it sound like shit and sounds like something is going to break.

For the BargeGlide I ssut ordered a pair of EZ start 551's from M&M for the simple reason that if I do headwork on the 96" with a comp bump, or a 103" kit in future I'll be covered in either direction.

Scrumpy have you installed them yet? If so what do you think?
