     Hi all,

I was reading with interest the Mobil1 V-TWIN oil thread when I decided to go down to my local stockist (Pacific Petroleum at Rocklea) and get some for my '88 Sporty. Darryl was away so I was served by an American bloke named Paul. I told him what I was there to buy, he went away and came back with a quote of $102.xx. Apparently this oil is ONLY available in U.S quart bottles and you MUST buy 6 quarts at a time. The look of shock on my face must have been plain as he said he had another option if I wasn't a Mobil1 fanboy. Of course I told him to go nuts. So off he goes for another quote on some different oil.

Paul comes back with a quote for Kendall GT-1 High Performance Oil. This oil is manufactured in the U.S, is available in pint bottles (3.785 litres), has a higher zinc content than Mobil1 (awesome for air cooled applications as it runs cooler with a higher zinc content) and comes highly recommended by a number of Harley builders and riders. After showing me the sales brochure for it and reading all about it, I bought 2 pints for $42.75.

So, to recap ...... Same quantity of oil, better quality for less than half the price.

Here's some blurb found on the net :

GT-1 High Performance Motor Oil is formulated to provide
excellent wear protection, to minimize the formation of sludge
and varnish, and to resist viscosity and thermal breakdown, even
in severe service. It also protects against rust and bearing
corrosion, and has good foam resistance. The SAE 20W-50
viscosity grade is fortified with additional zinc
dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) additive to provide enhanced
wear protection and oxidation resistance for use in the most
demanding applications. It is particularly recommended for use in
turbocharged engines and in high-performance engines with
flat-tappet camshafts, especially during the critical break-in
    period.

Once my bike is all back together I will report back on the findings but for all intents and purposes, from everything I have read and heard, it's a winner.
