Cams or 103?

    Gday,

     

    Hi guys I have been procrastinating for a few weeks on wether to put SE211 cams in or upgrade to a SE 130ci stage 2 kit which has SE255 cams in it.  I also have been tossing up the idea of boring my original barrells and putting high comp pistons in it (which means boring a spot in the cylinder heads for decomp I have been told) to make the 103ci and then SE211 cams.  I am chasing some more torque for overtaking 2 up.  Has anyone done any mods like this to their 96ci that could give me some honest feed back?  Oh its a 2008 Fatboy and I have some SE slipons with air cleaner and SEPT.

    The SE211 aren't exactly "bolt in, 2 up, overtaking" Cam's. More of a mid/upper performer, that need high Comp' to work well.
    Figure out your budget, and If you just want a simple "bolt in" Cam job, or the next step 103 and maybe Heads.

    Thanks guys for the input.  I got my local HD dealer to price me on a set of high comp pistons with a SE211 and auto decomp(with machining).  I am thinking off just boring my originals.  But then I would prob have to do head work.  Guess I will wait and see what the damage would be for the rebore etc and go from there.  Might just be better off going for the stage 2 kit and leave it at that.

    Here's my two bob's worth, I went down the 103 and cams track, did most of the work myself, with the help of friends, got SE barrels, pistons, 54h cam and cometic .30 head gaskets with standard heads. To top it off got TTS to tune it...Result is a marked improvement....Prob 90-95 hp/tq...

    You can spend a lot to get of the line quicker, top speed is still about the same.

    You can save a lot of money by exercising your right wrist though, you'l be surprised how much is there when you realy open it up, quite a few of my riding mates have proved that!!!
