    Hi,

I own a 99 model fatboy and need to replace the choke cable. Im assuming that this wouldn't be that hard (how wrong am I?)

Any help/thoughts would be much appreciated.

    cheers

The quickest way I've found is to remove the Air cleaner and backing , lift the rear of the tank, and remove the carby from the manifold (replace the rubber gasket while your there). You should be able to leave the throttle cable's connected.
The choke cable has a right angle bend and a plastic fitting screwed in to the Carby.
I would avoid the stock cable, and get a replacement from Mikuni. They are better made, dont have the shitty plastic mount, and have an adjustment for freeplay.

BTW... I didnt remove or lift my tank, but then again, Roadkings may have better access than Fatty's. I guess I was lucky.

did mine 2 weeks ago on my dyna, i replaced it with a standard HD one, like aunty X i didnt have to remove my tank, just took off my air filter and removed carby off the manifold, undid the plastic screw and replaced cable, pretty straight forward, if you get stuck take a look at the service manual if you have one.
