What's a good sleeping bag for a small biker swag?

I want to get a new sleeping bag to go in a panorama biker swag which I recently bought from JS Enterprises www.jsenthunting.com.au/panorama-swags.php#

The swag is great quality and so was the service and communication.  Now the biker swag is quite compact (only 600mm wide). I have only tried sleeping in it once in the cold weather and as expected there was a little condensation inside, but not as bad as I expected.

The sleeping bag I used was a standard sleeping bag which I got tangled up in and the opening was on the wrong side.

What sleeping bag will be the best to use in this compact biker swag?

    • canvas outer,
    • water resistant outer, poly cotton lining
    • cotton outer, flannelette lining;

    Considerations.

    • needs to open on left side to suit my swag opening
    • needs to be small enough to fit in small biker swag
    • there will be condensation in swag and sleeping bag will touch the sides

I have next to no experence using swags so would appreciate any advice.

    Cheers

    Sprocket.

These are some of the ones I have been considering:

    Sprocket,

Out of the sleeping bags you mentioned only 2 had the temprature rating..

When I went to Tassie I took a 5 degree sleeping bag and that was fine when I first started camping with a tent but once I got to Cradle Mountain the overnight temp dropped to 2 degrees and although I was sleeping fully clothed I still froze my butt off, also consider getting a silk liner for your bag as well as this can help save a degree or two and protect your sleeping bag at the same time.

I ended up getting a military spec sleeping bag.

I'll do a review once I have tested it. One unusual feature it has is a zip in / zip ou mossie screen at the head opening.

    Manufacturer;s description:

Used by the military worldwide such as Cyprus Special Operations Group, SOGs and the Scandinavian military and many more.

    Features:

    • 2 season bag in one.
    • Inner and outer shell made from 210 T/Rip-stop nylon.
    • 80g/m2 DuPont® Thermalite micro filling with an extra layer in the chest area for extra warmth where it is needed.
    • Bottom reinforced with 210 Denier nylon oxford, polyurethane coated up to the calf (allowing you to sleep with your boots on).
    • Extra layer of waterproof 2000g/mm 100% oxford material on rear that prevents moisture rising up from the floor.
    • Flat filled not quilted to prevent cold spots.
    • Internal and external baffle circle foot.
    • Internal and external hanging tabs for washing and drying.
    • Bonded seams.
    • 2-way, double slider, heavy-duty, no.8 spiral zip.
    • Anti-snag zip with Velcro tab closure.
    • Draw cord and barrel lock in hood.
    • Shaped hood for extra comfort.
    • Packed in waterproof spider stuff sack (18 x 16 cm).
    • Zip-in zip-out mosquito net at the top.
    • Designed for operations in - 5 degrees Celsius zones.
    • Pure silver, ultra-thin, micro fibre layer in filling has anti-bacterial and increased thermal properties.

Shit I have my old Army sleeping bag and my KING size swag plus a $50 dollar tent and have no drama's sleeping just depends on how much you have to drink.....LOL. Saying that pay a bit of money for the bag. Down sleeping bags are the best....but check the % of down in the bag cos that's where the difference is. As far as swag goes, don't waste your money on a biker swag. Get a King size but make sure it has18oz canvas or greater. With the heavy canvas it will help keep the warmth in. I have a king size with full length mattress and it sits on the bike no problems.

    Thanks Dicko,

I have a full length self inflating mattress that I have had for years. It fits perfect in the biker swag too. It gets quite bulky but still fits on the bike.
I'll have to try it out.  Which biker swag did you get?

The passport Sub zero sleeping bag from DMH outdoors is excellent. Its a 3 season sleeping bag (to about -7 i think) and they have an XL (extra wide sleeping bag for those of us with on board insulation) which is a great feature if your a bit claustrophobic. We keep these and the DMH tents which pack down really small for use on a bike.
