Hi,
I have a 2010 Fatboy with passing lamps fitted.
It currently runs H3 35 watt halogens bulbs in the passing lamps. I want to upgrade to brighter 55 watt bulbs.
The question is; will my electrical system run this extra load?
I am not sure what the output of the electrical system is. Would I be overloading the charging system?
I am still running the standard headlight, H4 60/55 W. I will be changing the halogen headight bulb to a brighter H4 60/55 bulb ( Phillips X-Treme Vision) very soon, too.
Thankyou
Cheers
Charging system will be more than covered.
I'm prety sure the 2010 twin cams run a 38 amp alternator now. and a 40 amp main fuse.
At 12 volt X 38 amp = 456 watts
At 13 volt X 38 amp = 494 watts
High beam 60 watts
Passing lights 110 watts
tail light 5 watts
stop light 21 watts
turn signals 42 watts
ECM/fuel pump 20 watts
Total = 258 watts = 21.5 amps
( leaves 198 watts/16.5 amps to spare at 12 volts, a little more at 13 volts)
Are you running a relay with the passing lamps?
i have been running 55watt globes in the passing lamps on my heritage for 18months with no dramas.
