Howdy, I have a new CVO Kryptonite in Bunbury and want some ideas on how to play music all night, as most will know the party normally is around the bike with "tunes" now once I am nicely pissed and stoned, I dont give a fuck about how long Led Zepplin, AC/DC is on flat out all night, but in the morning when I got a flat battery I do give a fuck as my bike wont start, then its a bitch with jumper leads ecetra, has any one found a good solution to this problem.
Solution....put charger on in the morning and wait till later in the arvo to start the bike after a night on the piss/green shit. I'm glad the battery goes flat, for your safety and the safety of other road users. JMHO.
Keep em' comming!!!! to clarify a bit, with my STREETGLIDE CVO "Kryptonite" I'm talking about when one is in the bush camping, no power outlets availible., there is a bit of a drain with the lights, as it was pointed out but me thinks the extra speakers are going to rip the guts out of the battrey, I tried an extra battrey in the pannier (on my last Streetglide) with a auto switching thingo that didnt seem to work, I am thinking of an extra battery with an A/B switch so I can switch between batterys and mabey one of the new Li ion type lightweight batterys used as the B, battrey.. I am picking your brains as I am a Fly in Fly out (FIFO) working in Port Hedland, and to get some info helps for when I am back home (also keeps me off the porn sites) so all info greatly apreaciated!
Guru, you're on the right track thinking about an extra battery, the problem you're trying to solve is all to do with power consumption and the only way to overcome it is to have more storage.
I reckon the best option would be to use a battery isolator switch instead of the A/B deal you mentioned.
More like A/B or Both so that when ya break camp and putt off, you can switch to both batteries and charge both ready for the next session.
Duel battery systems always work best if both batteries are the same size and rating.
I had a craptonite, played music .and the battery didnt go flatLOL
Guru,
Same Ride, same use, my solution:
I have the same Scooter, Orange and Black SESG, and I have used it for outdoor parties because it is the best sound system I have with the 8 GIG Ipod on board the CVO. What is a pain is having to remove the seat. So what I did was put in a fused short lead to a female two pin small plug, wired into the battery, only about a 250 mm lead out with the positive side fused. It tucks back in behind the rear cylinder jug, in that opening in the frame out of sight when not in use.
Then, you have a choice of feeding it with a small battery charger off a generator, or a lead to another vehicle with alligator clips to hook up to a larger battery. All you need is the matching plug and adapter to either one you want to use. I use a very small 240v to 12 volt power supply about as big as your hand, that feeds 12v LED downlights off 240v. I use that just because they are free discards from work. Any small trickle charger will work. No generator or 240v? A few metre lead of 6mm wire, from the matching adaptor to a pair of alligator clips, will let you do the same job hooked up to a larger 12v battery in another vehicle. Make sure it is fused, and disconnect it before starting the bike....
Party On, Ride Free, Stay Safe.... Cowboy
Congrats on the Krypto Guru - Nice to see another one on the board - My battery was dead to after a night of partying.
Cheers
Glen.
Yep good to see there is a couple of party animals out there! I'm thinking I will run another battery in line, as I have one, then connect with an Anderson plug on a permanent lead connected to the battery and make up a set of jumpers with the said plug on one end also I have a small battery charger which I will also fit an Anderson plug to, there a mighty fine plug should do the job. I have a auto switching system I bought for my last SG but couldn't get it working, next trip home at the end of this month I will take all your good ideas down and run them through a sparky in Bunbury and will post up my findings....Guru
Take a little hamster put it in an exercise wheel thats conected to an alternater.leave it over night and hey presto ya batts charged . ya could always use one of robos gerbils, and play AC DC all night coz he recon they is real quick
A Hamster is not a bad idea needs to be on "GOIE" or "CRACK",,, hanging around my mates it will probabaly hoover up some splif and just chill out = flat battery still....
Have a look at this page the one with the negitive lead looks good to me http://www.ultimateproducts.com.au/index%20dual%20batt.htm
I will hand it over to the techsperts for comments,,,, oh! and the peanut gallery of course!
