How to add Wide Glide frontend?

     Hi everyone,

Long time listener, first time caller. Just bought my first Harley today, an 88 1200 Sporty. It needs a bit of TLC but I'm looking forward to it. Anyway, I was wondering what exactly is involved in fitting a wide glide frontend? Do I just buy a set of wide glide tripletrees and bolt them on with the appropriate wide glide forks or is there more to it?

Also, how the hell do you take the seat off?

    Cheers,

    Pat

Most Wide Glide Tripple Tress on the Market are to fit Softails and will not bolt on to Sportster / Dyna Frames. Also they  all are 41mm Tubes. You can Fit Dyna Wide Glide front to it ,but they are hard to find. I sell a 41 mm Wide Glide Front End that will bolt straight on to Sportsters or Dynas. You would also need to change you Front Wheel to a Wide Glide.
The other way to do it is a Conversion Kit, You can buy a Kit in  Wide or Midglide Trees ,a New Axle and Spacer to Space out you Brake Rotor so that you not neen a new wheel, You use your Stock Fork Legs with a Converion Kit. I have a Mid Glide Conversion on my 06 Sportster .

Thanks for the replies. I have what I think is the stock seat with the small rectangular pillion seat with no visable screws? It's got me buggered, unless the pillion seat is bolted through the rear fender somehow?

Also, I have a 21" front wheel off the bosses 08 Night Train that the he gave me (how cool to have a boss that is into harleys too). Would that fit the 88 sporty forks?
