When I purchased my bike (06 model) I went to pick it up after a road worthy was done from the seller, mentioned to him as well to get the same bolt put back in, it was missing and the dealer never even noticed it, must have been a fault for a long time, or sportsters are built only on Friday Arvos!

Just my 2 cents worth here - Having thrown my leg over various twins through the last 40 odd years and knowing that vibrating things between your legs tends to loosen lotsa things (Ok hold it right there - we are talkin' petrol driven - not battery powered toys)  and knowing that fact as you all do, and I mean all of you - it is wise not to leave it to the stealers (or forums) to check your ride for loose bits and pieces (as sometimes stated in various service descriptions) - If you want your ride to last and not fall apart all over the road when you are out on a great ride one day - perform regular, preventative maintenance - it takes 30 mins once a week for fargsake - take some pride in your ride and work on it!!

Check, fasteners, belt/chain, wheel bearing side play, oil levels, leaks (oil, fork seals) tyres (for splits etc) belt for stone chips or tears - all this can be done when you clean it! I bet half of you check your dick more often than you check your ride.

fark I better check my lower bolts ,I reckon my left foot has been vibrating a lot more lately .

I used to do regular maintenance on my 70's model z9 and even though it had 80,000000000 K's on it I never once found an engine mount (pretty important stuff) loose !

and before anyone says fuck off back too ur jap crap ,I bought a NEW HD coz I expected some sort of modern technology surrounding the ancient twin .

shit coming loose and shit leaking in the 1st 5000 k's tells me this bike will be sold before it makes 15,000.....if it makes 15,000.....let alone 80,000

this is my 1st foray into HD and I do love the motor and the feel and the coolness but I cannot abide mutton dressed up as lamb ,nor afford it...its a damn shame

p.s check your exhaust crossover pipe for cracks ,had mine fixed just recently (thank god for warranty)

p.p.s day off today ,gonna go for a ride :) down to the Victory shop :P
