G'day Rider, my head light is ok on low but high is almost unusable ... no chance of seeing wildlife in time.

I was looking into getting Part #67700042A KIT-HEADLAMP,7-IN,LED/FLST for my fatboy but Luke at HH
said they are "not approved for Australia as this headlamp is a right-hand dip" ...

Is yours an AUS or USA? and if USA do you notice any issue with the right-hand dip ???

    Cheers Simmo

Got mine sent from US, and never found any doco's regarding left or right dip or US or AUS versions.

I did wonder about it at the time but after installing it found that there is no dip to either side.

The low beam is wide, but illuminates a very well defined narrow slit of light across the road with a definite cut-off line.

It appears to be pretty much straight down the center with two distinct paterns for high or low.

The balance, or difference between high and low is OK, in as much as when setting the headlight using the low beam, the high beam is spot on when turned on.

Haven't had any problems with oncoming traffic when on low beam as yet (and the truckies out this way soon let you know), so I'm assuming that I haven't set it too high and it's not causing any hassles.

The only thing I can think of is that there may be a difference between the 5 3/4 inch and 7 inch units, but I haven't seen a 7 so can't comment in that respect.

(Edit Note; added low beam pics to original post)

StreetBob, they are Cree 5 LED spotlights, small but powerful.

There's an earlier post about them here;  www.hdforums.com.au/Default.aspx

Got a price for a 5 3/4 version from Luke. About $80-90 dearer than getting it from the states. But i'm happy to pay a small premium to buy local for access to warranty for an expensive little electrical item.

     Didn't mention anything.

StreetBob, best I can tell for the comparision photo from harley and what I have read, I think they all the legitimate harley ones are the same as described by Rider. No dip just a straight cut line between high and low.

Your right the US site part number has a 'A' on the end didn't see that don't know what that is about. I will ask when I order one. The halogen lights specifies left dip and right dip in description. The LED specifies 2 horizontal "D" shaped lenses.

Good stuff, hope there is no difference. Maybe the only difference is for cars and not bikes?

Fitted my LED ... pretty happy with it but expected to much I think. Might have to get some Cree spotties too.

The adjustment on the HD LED's is more critical than reflector type headlights, gotta be spot on. When I first fitted one I thought that I had it right, but after a couple of rides i found the need to really fine tune the adjustment.

And regarding the little Cree spotties, on the open road at night they even blow the HD Led away, I wouldn't be without them now on any ride.
