My late grandfather used to ride harleys after ww2, up untill he had an accident on one before i was born, he'd always tell me stories of how much fun he had riding.....so you could say i've always wanted a Harley, but my perents wouldnt let me, and so the years have come and gone and im turning 34 next saturday, and picking up my first bike, a brand new Iron 883! So for me it has always been about turning a dream real!

Good question Woody; hmmm when was it? ... I'd always preferred bikes over cars as a littlie (and still have stuff all interest in cars) but I reckon I was maybe 13 when I decided I would love to own a bike.

I was camping on Mt Tamborine and there were two blokes on trials bikes riding in and out of a creek and doing effortless wheelies through the water - as only trials bikes can do. I sat there watching for ages and sooo wanted to do that!

Some time later a kid down the road was selling his YZ80B - and the rest is history...

I always wanted to ride a bike ever since I can remember, and got my bike L's the very day I was old enough, went out and bought a bike 3 days later and there has never been a day in the 31yrs since that I have not owned a bike (and at times I have owned more than 1 at a time). I just followed in my Fathers footsteps I guess, who always owned a bike (until ill health took him off the road at 68) and who never had a car licence, and in fact, he never even sat behind the wheel of a car in his 80 yrs on this earth (God rest his soul). I used to sit as a kid and marvel at his bike, which to a little kid,  seemed like a huge machine in the garage whenever I could, and he used to take me for rides when I got a bit bigger so the fascination grew even stronger. My Dad used to race BSA's and Nortons back in the 50's and 60's (only weekend amatuer racing) and Mum still has some of his old trophies and medals and stuff.

First bike in 1964. A Royal Enfield 350 single. It had a short life, backfired thru the carby one day, caught fire and burned to the frame. First lesson in not having an air filter fitted. Finally got a license and had several Norton's in the 60's, an assortment of stuff ending with a 550 honda 4 super sport in the 70's. Rode Kwakas thru most of the 80's, then started with Harleys in the 90's. Had a few UMJ's and MV Augusta's for second bikes. On the seventh Harley now. Probably end up on malvern star with a lawn mower motor when I'm too old to hold the bloody things up. I don't miss the old oil leakers at all. Couldn't even kick a 350 single over these days.

Dad took me to the drivein to see "ON ANY SUNDAY" when I was about 7 and I've loved bikes ever since. Funny thing was my Dad hated bikes because his uncle was killed on one when Dad was a kid. It was'nt until I was in my 30s and had been riding for 20 yrs that my Dad came around to my way of thinking and saw it was'nt just a faze I was going through.

Think i was about 7 or 8 and my cousins had a little honda 50 monkey bike. They got me on it and that was that, I was hooked! had a few dirt bikes as a teenager, first road back when I got my licence.
Got hooked up with the wife and started having chitlens when I was in my early 20's and went with out a bike for about 3 or 4 years - heartbreaking times. Living in bunbury watching my mates head off for a ride with Patto's crew, going to the CC show at the old picton tavern, seeing a workmate turn up everyday on a pan flh.....vowed I would never be without a bike ever again.
Only started riding harleys in the last 5 years - have vowed never to be without a harley ever again.

    now your just teasing me, I'd love and sl70 or an xr75 to add to my collection.......MR50, Z50a, Z50jz, 81 ATC70, 85 ATC70, 78 ATC90.

SL70 can be rego'd too......any old rego'd mini bike makes a good caravan park bike, can;t get busted because it is registered.....

Harley X90 would be even better......

I first got hooked on bikes when I was about 5 years old watching my brothers ride their trail bikes around. When I was 6 I rode my brothers YZ125 into the bird avery in our back yard releasing all the birds, My mum decided after that she better let my brothers teach me to ride otherwise it would cost her a fortune in birds. I rode everyone elses bikes until I was 14 and got my first job, 2nd paycheck bought me a box or 2 containing a YZ80 which took me 2 weeks to piece together and 1 weekend to blow up again. The love for ridin and workin on bikes has been with me ever since.

Can't remember all the bikes I have owned but I remember a real dark period when I sold my Z900 to buy a responsible family car, went without a bike for 6 years until she left me and vowed to myself never to sell a bike for a woman again.
