Anyone out there fitted the HD  pt no 49080-06  forward controls, if so does it come with a chrome cap for the gearshift shaft?  Other thoughts on the product too?

my hd kit only came with a small crome cover which you put in place if you fully remove the shaft. i left mine in place couldnt be rooted removing the primary. however i read guys in the states cut the shaft with a hacksaw blade, and pull it out, has anyone here done this?

Ended up putting Outlaw forwards on, had trouble from fluid contamination (I think) with the rear brake locking up, also using DOT4 didn't help as the black powdercoating started coming off the master cylinder.

The Outlaw forwards had no instructions/warning to only use DOT5 but a reply from the supplier implied I should have known. Anyway I was heading to Tasmania on a 4000k trip and didnt want any hassles so went back to mids and to my surprise had no lower back or leg issues. I must admit the bike handles better with mids. The only reason I went with forwards was to reposition the master cylinder so I could fit some Yaffe pipes, but now I might stick with mids and see if Big Joe can make me a set of pipes similar that work with mids.

Oh when I put the forwards on I just pushed the shifter shaft back in and jammed the lever up behind a bolt and got one of my Navy chief buttons and sprayed it matt black and used silastic to stick it on the shaft hole and it looked cool (IMO).

I fitted the stock HD kit to my '01 Dyna. I removed the shaft and put the cover plate and gasket in. A much cleaner look and not hard to do (I'm not that mechanical). I later replaced the Primary cover with a chrome version after a little slide near Thredbo, and that was an even cleaner look.

Just fitted factory HD forwards to 2006 dyna. With a bit of patience and an air hacksaw cut the original shift linkage and pulled it out. Worked well no scratches, lost a bit of skinn off the finger tips. But who need finger prints anyway. The inner primary cap was a bit tricky to fit as hands wont fit in the gap. just taped the cap to some electrical tape to put it in position the pushed it in with screw driver... All up going slow and a few beer breaks install took 5 hrs...
