Vance and Hines Quality

I was searching for a rattle that has been annoying me for a while.

    Found it today.

The the welds on the bracket that holds the rear heat shield on has broken away from the shield. . I know it hasn't had any trauma. The welds have just let go. Can't just weld it back on as this will discolour the chrome.

Then to compound the problem the spacer bracket Vance and Hines supply to lift the rear footpeg above the exhaust is stuffed as well. The footpeg practically fell into my hand. The footpeg shaft in bolted to this bracket via an hex head bolt. The bracket has a threaded sleave in it and this has pulled out. Why would they put a threaded sleave in when they can just thread the bracket?

This pisses me of as Vance and Hines only give a 90 day warranty for workman ship

    Pissed off big time

Not good Magilla.  I noticed a while back that the rear bracket on my big radius pipes had gone rusty.  Powder coat had flaked off and the thing has started to rust.  Had to remove it and re-paint.

Had a look on the V&H Facebook site and there is a picture in there of someones bike with the same problem. The tack welds crack and if they don't fail early the rust does get to them eventually.

As soon as the replacement arrives I'll be giving the brackets a good dose of heat resistant paint!

I was also lucky I founf the footpeg bracket problem when I did 'cause I reckon it would of fallen off after a while and I would have lost the lot.

I have a Fatboy Lo and fitted a V&H RSD Tracker 2 into 1 Exhaust. What happend with this exhaust is that the Ceramic Coating had cracked and started to rust, the mounting bracket is now rusting where the black paint has blisted and fallen off.

V&H replaced this exhaust with a new replacement exhaust which was fine, but the new exhaust is starting to exhibit the same problems, their ceramic coating is crap. Really like this style exhaust which makes me even more disappointed.

I will find the photos and post them here.

I have been complaining about the finish on my Pro Pipe Hi Output since the first week....

this is about all they say

Sorry to hear about your pipes discoloring, one thing you may try is to get in contact with your local ceramic coating company to have your pipe re-coated.  We also have heat shields available for this system, if you have anymore questions feel free to contact us,

     Thanks

l did a product review here on the V&H PRO PIPE loved the pipe but the ceramic coating was total junk , seems to have stopped rusting but one day when l feel the urge l'll take the pipe to a coating crowd and get it done properly . Believe there is one in Leongatha Victoria which does the V8 supercar stuff

And did you know China before all the American stuff was here nearly every one who was into customizing in the 70's got their pipes bent up by a bloke called Jim at Sonic Choppers out near the Kenworth factory in Melbourne , From there he would flog them off to the hoards all over the country, l think Jim still makes bars and pipes to this day

My V&H 2-1 big radius has had the same problem twice, Sushine Coast harley have replaced it under warrenty on both occasions. Not very good quality thats for sure has put me off buying another V&H. Will be changing as siin as I get a chance.

You know it is amazing that V&H are still around , l bought the Pro Pipe l think around 5 years ago and when my pipe started to rust l sent them an email, and the answer that Uncle Ho got was very similar to mine . You would think that after 5 years they would have got their shit together

I think its a little like Telstra who have such market dominence , they dont give a toss if you dont get satisfaction there are not to many competitors.

V&H produce reasonable results as far as a pipe goes. But as far as being of good quality they are abslolute garbage. Given 2 sets away and let them put up with the rust and poor finish. fucken hARLEY DEALER PUSHED RUBBISH...
