Hey guys looking for a bit of advice, considering lowering my Dyna. Any reccomendations if i should or shouldnt and if so how much? I know it looks good lowered but im more concerned bout performance/handling then looks. Should i leave it or does lowering it a bit help performance?

lowering alters rake and trail and comprimises handling ,replace stock suspension with better quality gear and your away .

Once ya engine mounts and tyres wear a bit, these lowered dynas handle like shit. True track will help sort but not completely. You blokes sure these great handling dynas are really being ridden hard in the twisties or just hard for your own abilities.
140+ RHers can be real ass clenchers, most of the late model dyna riders I know will back me on this.

l used a set of those mounts that fit to your swing arm , so you lay the origonal shocks back a bit, it lowered the bike in the rear an inch & a bit. l took them off after noticing it was bottoming out, the top belt guard was hitting on the fender over bumps, and bent it out,,,,thats on my 2006 streetbob, ive fitted a set of 2010 fat bob full cover shocks since , they work better than the streetbob shocks,so now they've been on about 2 years, done some fully loaded trips from 2 days to 14 days ,and about town ..l rekon their great value especialy when they give em away for $50 bucks on ebay....so my advice is be carefull lowing your origonal bike, like you say it looks good but thats about all....

stock Dynas ridden hard dont cut the mustard full stop no matter what you say they do, true track has evolved for this reason. Upgrading suspension is a certyainty if you want handling and performance through twisties at speed. lowering a dyna and saying they handle better may have some truth in certain situations in your mind but ring its neck in a corner till your arse puckers and you will see the reality of your modification and may want to rethink the price of what may look cool or what handles better. Scouser if you are just putting around town bar hopping etc and dont venture over 120 on the open road, obey the speed signs in the twisties then yeah its unlikely you will tell anything major with your lowered version apart from maybe a sore arse feom some bumps but after coming off a 48 you will b e no stranger to that.

It's simple handling physics, you put the rear axle above the swingarm pivot point(lowered), handling is always compromised.
My 116hp dyna with 11" Ikon would not go around corners, exactly the same characteristic with 11" progressives.looked cool tho.
Now the 07 Dyna is 135hp, and the only time the Ikons go on is for the drag strip.
12" or longer for the twisties at pace, currently have a set of Penske 12" with true trak, bike is on rails, worn tyres still make a huge impact tho.
