    hey all,

thinking of lowering my bike, spoke to harley heaven and it only costs $60 for parts and $160 for fitting and lowers the bike 2" in the rear.

just wondering if anybody has lowered there bike? and if so how do you find it?

    thanks

When I got a set installed on mine they had to remove the shocks and put them in a press to install the kit so I would imagine $160.00 isn't too bad...Mine is a 1995 so maybe yours will be easier....I lifted mine back up as the ride seemed to be really hard when it was low...

Yeah I thought it would look good, but reckOn it would kill your ass after a long ride! Seen a couple of pics of them lowered and looks pretty sweet,

I guess if I really hate how it rides I can always raise it back up!

Hey matty, I've had my two previous softails lowered. One was a Heritage and the other a softail standard. The heritage was lowered 2 inches and scraped on the boards. The standard was lowered an inch, looked good and still kept up with the pack. Rode both from Tassie to Brissy like it every year for 10 years. Go for it.

My Fatty is lowered and it ( I think) looks cool as shit. Handles and rides like crap though!!LOL. Who cares, I just cruise anyway. As far as paying someone, I pity the poor buggers who dont have the gear or the mechanical ability....what a rip off some of these places are. How the fuck do the justify 100+ and hour?

Yep get a Factory Manual and start doing your own work, also you will get much more satisfaction doing it yourself.

As far as lowing your ride, it looks cool but that is about all it does, there is always a trade off with comfort and handling.

Yeah I only use the bike as a cruiser, i do most of the work to my bike myself, it's just hard doing work that requires the wheels off as I don't have a stand yet! And I had a feeling the running boards might scrap a bit if I lower the bike, but oh well atleast it will look cool lol

I don't hesitate to let someone who knows what they are doing handle it. I haven't got the time or the tools. Mine is lowered an inch and a half and it took me a while to get used to it. Now I rarely scrape but spend a lot of time off the seat which really makes it a lot more fun. Sort of riding it like a sports bike. No worries at all, and it does look very cool parked in the street. That has to be more important than handling!

If you want LOW though check out Wallah's electric lift that lets him sit the pipes on the groound when it's parked. Now THAT is a seriously good look. WALLAH, how about a photo?

Got me Dyna low as fork in the rear end, she scrapes either side but eventually I just learned to slow down a bit in the corners and learned the angle of lean so as to avoid scraping.

As for comfort I wouldn't do a 1000k day on it but did the run to Bellingen some months back with the forum peeps over about 6 hours and felt right as rain when I got off, it's all in the seat.
