Second Hand Bike Prices

I have been thinking of upgrading my Softy and been looking through bike point...There has been plenty of discussion on here about the price of second hand bikes and how they seem to be going down in price.

Looking at the prices on the internet they still seem to be quite high, even my model,1995 FXSTC is in the range of $17000--$23000 and compared to mine they have heaps of k's on them..there are a few cheaper but with really high k's.

Is there anybody on here who has actually sold a bike recently of around that era that has actually got that much money for it or are most of the people selling them for those prices dreaming???

    Cheers...Sparra

I've had bugger all takers for my Street Bob, I think the market is bad at the moment, plus going into colder weather is not the best time to sell a bike.  I've decided to keep the Street Bob, may consider trying again next summer.

Hey KC...I was actually looking at yours again last night in Bikepoint....That's part of the reason for this post as I would have to sell mine to buy again but for me to get enough to afford another one It seems I would be one of the dreamers.....

arnt the stealers doing some specials on new bikes at the moment (not the sporty), its very inticing just to save a bit longer and buy a new one (change the a/c, exhaust and remap) for the price some want for the second hand units.

some of the prices for 2nd bikes are unrealistic when they dont sell theyll learn market value ,stock bike sells with more value ,even engine upgrades ,chrome dodads etc dont add value .

Just sold my 09 Dyna on Bikesales........bought it from a Dealer for 26,500 with 4000k's on it,,,,,,,,spent close to 8 grand on it..had it on for 24,500........a guy offered 22,500 so i let it go and cut my losses, happy really to get a buyer........good photos mate is what sells your bike.....remember, there can be over 1,700 Harleys on the market so you need to make yours stand out from the rest.......what is behind the bike in the photo is important.......no washing or shit like that........find a plain wall that compliments your bike......and take heaps, different angles and closeups........then sift through and pick out the best........that is what sold mine.......and that is also what the buyer said.......it does make a difference.....trust me...! Oh yes.......and a good clean tidy bike to start with......
    Good luck.!

the more grey imports will drop the pricing more than anything else, even if Harley drop new bike pricing the imports will drive second hand pricing down more
