Out for a ride the other day and the engine light came on and the motor died, i had no throttle at all and the motor was still running but just enough to get me off the road. Turned it off for about 5 mins and started her up, no worries went well. Then later on it did the same thing, just died on me. I left it again for 5 mins and it started no worries so i took her home and put her to bed. I took it into the steelers the very next day and left it with them. Thats was two weeks ago and I still havent got her back. When the bike died on me it apparently went into limp home mode, it does this when there is something wrong. Prior to this I had just got back from a 4000k trip taking in Adelaide and Melbourne with no problems. the bike hasnt died on them but is showing a few codes but they cant get to the bottom of the issue so they are getting all info together to email to HD USA to see if they have any idea. just tought I would put it out there to see if anyone else has had the same issue.

Let us know what they find the problem is.

Sad to see a "king of the road" go down.

steelers got a fix in from the states and it didnt work, every thing checked out and still couldnt get two error codes to clear. it started and ran well with test rides around homebush but still the codes persisted so decided to put it on the dyno to put about 100 ks on it and it shit it self, only thing to do now is to pull it down and try and physically see where and what might be the issue. what a fuck but hey shit happens. steelers have been excellent and are doing everything they can as it has every one stumped, they have loaned me a nice ride to get me around for a while, black FLHX. very cool... I forgot to add that ive put 67000ks on the clock so far and 35000 since the 103 stage 4 with out a hint of a problem....

well they have pulled it down and discovered that the motor was well and truly cooked, oil pump failure(turned to mush) new fly wheel, cranks, pistons cams etc etc, so seems a total engine rebuild is now going take place, barrels and heads are OK. The only concern is that they didn’t find out what the initial problem may have been and may never know. All parts are in Aus and i should have GRUVY back on the road in a couple of weeks. Steelers have been really good, all repairs will be at their costs so I’m not complaining I just hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

put it back together the same as it was when it cooked. Bought it new as a 96cube, upgraded the motor at 32k

no, no oil lights just engine light. cooked on dyno. there was no corrosion on ECM pins or crank piston failure & there was no FBW throttle problem. it’s got everyone stumped including the Harley expert from here and HD in the states. due to the shortness of the test rides around Homebush they decided to put it on the dyno to put some ks on it, nothing sinister just an easy run to simulate road conditions and without any indications it shit itself. its back together but i haven’t picked it up as they want keep it a bit longer to make sure everything is A OK before giving it back

she's back on the road at last but still waiting on pushrods covers, exhaust heat sheilds and new mufflers that were burnt during the meltdown, chrome all blued and burnt. She goes in next week for those. Picked her up on Wed and put 300k's on her so far, will try for another 500 or more over the weekend before she goes in. its so good to be back on her as I was getting sick of the street glide, great bike but not as comfortable as gruvy.
