Replacing fuel gauge with cap??

Thinking I'd like to remove the fuel gauge from my 2011 FatBob and replace it with a dummy cap, don't want to fork out for a flush mount set up as I don't use the gauge anyway. I find the trip meter more reliable personally. Has anybody else done this? Is it possible? Any thoughts or comments appreciated ;)

Gilbo,by the time you find a matching cap and stuff around with fitment

youd be better of buying one off the LED ones      IMO

If they are the stick- on ones////// I haven't seen them

fuel gauge window might be a bit lumpy underneath?

I know $$$$$$$$ don't grow on trees but don't spoil

a $30,000 bike for the sake off a coupla hundred    IMO

Good point Gnoo, looking into the Diamond Black cap and Led gauge set up as they have the same satin black finish as my powder-coated dash. It's more the look I was after anyway ;)

I have installed the new HD Speedo/Tacho on my Fatboy Lo, this unit now has a segmented fuel guage which is one of the reasons for purchasing this speedo/tacho. This it the first phase as I have the Diamond Collection Fuel guage with the LED setup with the matching cap which does look nice but the LED setup isn't what I want now at this point in time.

So I can now remove the fuel guage setup and install an RSD Billett Contrast Cut dummy cap which matching filler cap to complete the setup so I can get away from the HD Fuel cap setup. Also I always run off the trip meter and have done so for many years as I find this to be a more accurate way of guaging the fuel usage.

Another way on trips I also use the Garmin 660 GPS unit which has an in built fuel guage setup and its a very accurate way of determining how far to empty, also it then tells you the guage fuel level is low and prompts you so you just click on the screen and it brings up the distance to the nearest garage if you in an area which is not familiar.
